Resizing, Cropping, Tilting and Rotating Photos & Images

You have uploaded a picture and it is either too big or two small and you would like to change the size.   No problem!

  1. USE THE "HANDLES" ON THE EDGES OF THE PHOTO BOX TO RE-SIZE
Drag your picture onto the page. A box is around the picture.  Put your mouse on the little squares in the corners or in the middle of the box.
  2. USE THE CORNERS TO RE-SIZE THE PHOTO WITHOUT CHANGING THE SHAPE
Click and drag your mouse in or out from a corner and your picture size will change bigger or smaller.
  3. USE THE TOP, BOTTOM, LEFT, RIGHT BOXES TO CROP/CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THE IMAGE
Click on one of the middle or top boxes and your box will stretch out
  4. USE THE OUTSIDE CORNERS TO ROTATE PHOTO
if you bring your mouse just outside the corner boxes, you will get an arched arrow,
The arched arrow will allow you to tilt your picture.
  5. The same technique can be done with memories or graphics.

i have a picture that when i upload it, it is sideways, so i rotate it. All looks good except when i hit "set to print" or "print ready", it moves the picture back sideways.

Hi Lynn - I have fixed the photo for you. Photos should be rotated before they are added to the page. I found the photo in your folder, rotated it there, and then added the correct photo to your page.

some of the photos that I have added have the caution sign, resizing only makes the picture makes the text on the image blurry. Please help me with this issue.

Hi Erica - I see the warning triangles on 2 images in your book. It looks like you scanned them and uploaded them to the TreeRing site. The issue is with the resolution of the images. Rescan them using this information from the help center-
    Image Resolution Recommendation:
    - DPI (dots per inch): Ideal = 300, but no need to go higher than 400. It can be less than 300 DPI, but we recommend keeping the image very small on the page. There will be warning triangle on the image if we think it will look poor in print.

The cropping boxes on the sides of my images are not working today- the feature was working fine yesterday, but today I am stuck with the original proportions of the images. What is the problem?

Hi Margaret - We are not seeing that issue on our end. Please log out of TreeRing and back in to see if that clears it up. If it continues to happen please contact customer support so we can get more details.

I have a page where I want all the photos to be the same size. Do I have to do this individually, or can I somehow highlight an entire page and make the photos all the same dimensions?

Hi Kelly - You can copy the style, width, and height for all photos on a page spread. This help center article will show you how: https://treering.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/206020686-Copy-Photo-Style-Width-Height

I'm trying to customize the size of photo boxes I'm placing in the book. Normally, I use the diagonal corners to keep the photo in proper proportions but I want to make the picture box wider or narrower to fit a particular photo and the photo box is increasing diagonally instead of wider or taller.

OK, now it's working. Not sure why it was mixed up but all's good now.

This is easy enough and I'm doing it all but I'm still having issues where I will add a photo box .. it appears as a square and outlined so I go ahead and remove the outlines but when I try to make into a rectangle but using the corners it doesn't change its shape at all

Hi Jenny - It seems to be working fine for me. Please make sure you are using the latest version of your browser and Adobe Flash. I see you have a ticket and I will reach out to you there to get more details!
